Latex Care
Upon reception :
Your hood might be slightly powdered on arrival, give it a little wash first, with slightly warm (not hot!) water to remove any dust before putting it on.
Don't forget that it is a sensory deprivation hood ! You won't be able to see once you'll have it on, so I recommend you lay down beforehand and don't try to walk around once worn, unless you have someone who can help you and prevent any incident.
If you feel like the mouth tube is too long, it is possible to shorten it by cutting it with scissors, however be aware that I won't accept returns if you've modified a hood that way.
Because the latex is flexible, breathing in with your nose while using the mouth tube will make the hood's cheeks crease. It won't damage it, however if it bothers you for aesthetics reasons it can be avoided by only breathing with your mouth, or plugging your nostrils before putting it on.
Play responsibly! Due to the only hair hole being the mouth tube, obstructing it could lead to suffocation!
General care:
-Always store your hood in a place where it isn’t exposed to direct sunlight.
-You can use silicone-based latex polish (I personally use Vivishine) to make it look glossy and new before putting it on.
Using a lint-free cloth to apply it will ensure a slicker look.
-It is recommended to use latex polish before storing your hood as well, and to occasionally (every 3-4 week or so) polish it again to keep the material healthy and ensure that it won’t deteriorate faster than it should.
-Never leave, or store your hood in a place that is too hot (for example, near a heating system) or too cold.
-Metal can permanently stain and deteriorate your latex overtime.-Oils and petroleum can deteriorate latex, never use oil-based lubes, vaseline or the likes on your hood. Extended contact with leather can also cause some damage, as leather contains natural oils.
-Avoid storing your hood crumpled or squished. If you don’t have a proper stand when you receive it, it is possible to keep it upside-down, resting on its ears and the back of its head (the ears should be sturdy enough to keep their shape that way), but I recommend getting a wig stand to ensure that there won’t be any deformation occuring overtime.
-After every use, wash your hood with slightly warm water. You can add a few drops of oil-free/petroleum-free soap or dishwashing soap (diluted in water beforehand). Remove any water left with a soft towel. Never use abrasive sponges.
-Water can make the latex colour paler (black turning slightly grey). It is only temporary, as the latex will regain its colour once dry, after a few minutes.
